Description Sunrize Brown Lentils - lentils are the cousin of the bean and are particularly popular in Indian and Middle Eastern cookery. They are packed with nutrients, fibre, complex carbohydrates, folic acid. Lentils are low calorie, low fat and cholesterol free. In fact they help lower cholesterol!
The Sunrize Fact-ory The ancient Greeks enjoyed lentils, which they used in soups and also to make bread and Pliny wrote a description about the growing of lentils from seed and also their medicinal properties.
Usage Adds body to soups, casseroles, stews and particularly nice in Veggie Shepherds Pie. Great in curries, dall, rice dishes and salads. To Cook: NO soaking required - remember Red Lentils will cook to a puree and can be used as a thickener. Brown, puy and green lentils will remain whole. Rinse and place in a saucepan with clean cold water covering by 3cm. Bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 20 mins. Continue with your recipe.

On the Label Full of essential nutrients, brown lentils are delicious. They are in fact, the whole outer of red split lentils, so when cooked they hold their shape.
Directions for use: As with other lentils, brown lentils require no soaking. Simply bring to the boil in a large pan, then simmer for approx 45mins or until soft. At this point, they can be frozen in batches with some of the cooking water, or used straight away.
