Description Sunrize Butter beans - also known as Lima beans - sweet bean popular in Native American Indian cooking. An excellent source of Potassium, Protein, Manganese, Copper, Iron and Fibre. Helps reduce blood pressure, low in fat, cholesterol free and Also provides a good source of insoluble fibre which is important for good bowel health. Cholesterol free.
Usage Good pureed with fresh garlic and herbs into a puree for spreads and dips, great to add to soups, burritos, stews and casseroles. (Must be cooked First) To cook: Soak overnight in clean cold water. Drain the next morning and replace water to cover beans by 5cm. Fast boil for 10 mins. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 45 mins or until tender. Drain and save cooking water as this contains B Vitamins and can be used in recipes requiring liquid.

On the Label Butter beans, also known as Lima beans are packed full of nutrients. They are commonly used in South American dishes and are delicious in casseroles and stews. They also make a great alternative to hummous when mashed with garlic and olive oil. Directions for use: Soak the beans overnight in cold water. After soaking, replace water and bring to the boil in a large pan, then simmer for approx 45mins or until soft. At this point, they can be frozen in batches with some of the cooking water, or used straight away.
