Description Sunrize Ground White Pepper - comes from the pepper plant which bears little white flowers that develop into berries known as peppercorns which can then be ground - the berry is picked when fully ripe. It has a milder flavour than Black Pepper.
The Sunrize Fact-ory The pungent fruits, or peppercorns, were known in classical Rome and were well established as an article of commerce. The Emperor Marcus Aurelius imposed a customs tax on white pepper and the related species long pepper (Piper longum) arriving at Alexandria, but exempted black pepper.
Usage Pickling spices, marinades, light coloured foods like mashed potato, soups and sauces.
Storage Requirements Store in a cool dry place and once opened keep in an airtight container for no more than 6 months.
On the Label White pepper comes from black pepper which has been allowed to stay on the tree for longer before harvesting. It benefits by having a stronger more fragrant flavour than black pepper and is used extensively in Chinese cuisine.
