Description Sunrize Puy Lentils - This variety of lentil is smaller in size and adrk green colour with a mottled pattern. They retain their shape on cooking and have a unique peppery flavour. Puy lentils are lentil luxury and are extremely nutritious. They are high in fibre and carbohydrate.
The Sunrize Fact-ory Lentils were never thought highly of because of being regarded as peasant food but in Eighteenth Century France under the reign of Louis XV, his wife Marie made them fashionable at the king's court. They were named "lentils of the queen."
Usage Great with vegetables or in a salad and a warm nutty accompaniment to poultry, fish, meat and game. To Cook: NO soaking required - remember Red Lentils will cook to a puree and can be used as a thickener. Brown, puy and green lentils will remain whole. Rinse and place in a saucepan with clean cold water covering by 3cm. Bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 20 mins. Continue with your recipe.
