Sunrize Saffron - Superior Spanish Saffron - bright orange red - intense flavour - the most precious spice in the world - The Saffron filaments, or threads, are the dried stigmas of the saffron flower, "Crocus Sativus Linneaus". Each flower contains only three stigmas. These must be picked from each flower by hand, and more than 75,000 of these flowers are needed to produce just one pound of Saffron filaments, making it the world’s most expensive spice.
The Sunrize Fact-ory Ancient Mediterranean peoples, including perfumers in Egypt, physicians in Gaza, townspeople in Rhodes and the Greek hetaerae courtesans, used saffron in their perfumes, ointments, potpourris, mascaras, divine offerings, and medical treatments.
