Description Sunrize Whole Cloves - uniquely warm, sweet and aromatic taste - Cloves are the unopened pink flower buds of the evergreen clove tree.
The Sunrize Fact-ory In Britain in the 17th and 18th centuries, cloves were worth at least their weight in gold, due to the high price of importing them.
Usage Stud baked or roasted ham with Whole Cloves and spread over a mixture of honey, sugar and mustard before finishing in a hot oven. Add to pilau rice and bread sauce, mulled wine, South East Asian and Indian cooking. Excellent addition to split pea and bean soups, baked beans and chilli.
Storage Requirements Store in a cool dry place and once opened keep in an airtight container for no more than 6 months.
On the Label Cloves take their name from the French ‘Clou’ which means ‘nail’ which they closely resemble. They have always been highly valued as a commodity, so much so that in the 18th Century they were worth more than gold! They are extremely aromatic and are used in both sweet and savoury dishes.
